My Autobiography (ISRAEL)

   Hello, my name is Israel Almeida and I'm 33 years old. My first contact with English was in mid 1985 when Michael Jackson songs were successful on radio and TV. At that time I was a little child and lived in Rio de Janeiro (I was born there), where Michael hits were successful.

   But my interest started in 1996 when I was doing 5th grade. A classmate loved to speaking some words in English and doing activities. From then on I started to attract by the English language. I remember to rent a videotape to watched the movies with subtitles. It was also at this time that I began to have a preference for American English, just because the influence of the movies that I watched.

   In the early 2000s I started doing the course at Cultura Inglesa. Although I was studying British English, I struggled to always speaking  American English in class. It was a great development that I had doing the course. My vocabulary has expanded and my conversation was very good. I stayed in the course until the year 2002, at the intermediate level.

   This year (2002), I decided to apply for a place in an extension course in UFCG. Vacancy rates were highly competitive. I had to go before 5 am in order to get to enroll. I made a written and oral test to get in. Only vacancies existed for what was called the level 2. To got a vacancy was easy because I had just come out of Cultura Inglesa and know what was going to be on the test. I studded until level 6. A curious moment of the course was when I had the opportunity to interact with a student from Japan. Myself and another colleague talked about various subjects with him. I admit that it was not easy because the Japanese did'n speak English very well. But when he did not understand something, we tried to use gestures and mime. It was very funny and entertaining at the same time.

   Due to work I had to drop the course and then never went into another course. I've always had the habit of reading in English. I read a lot during the whole time before entering the university. I realized that my conversation was compromised because I never had anyone who could share experiences of English with me.

   In 2012 I entered UEPB to start the course letras Inglês. It's funny how the lack of information makes us have a different idea of the course before entering. Having spent much time outside of the classroom, I had difficulty with the disciplines, especially those that were not focused on learning English. I took the course by leaps and bounds - it had to reconcile the work as security guard and classes - until the third period. As I work one night and another I'm off, I began getting tired of going to university without sleep. I locked the course in the 3rd period in 2013 and now I'm back to try to continue and perhaps finish. That's it.

My autobiography

My name is Caio Pereira,  I am 18 years old. My first contact with English was when I was in the high school. I remember that English always was my favorite discipline and was where I had my best grades.

Because of that, I interested about English, so I was always listening musics in English, watching movies and series. I learned somethings in English by myself.

I started study English in a course in 2013 when I have started my graduate in Language Arts and my extension course in English, both at Universidade Estadual da Paraíba – UEPB. Now, I am in the third semester of the graduation and I finished my Basic English 1's Course.

I taught English for teenagers in March, 2013 at Colégio Universo as substitute teacher and also I taught in Colégio Modelo e Tradição for kids. I really loved teaching and I hope to get a job in another school or course. I want to finish my graduate and to study more than I have studied in English because we are always learning, and the development is something really important for me.

Autobiografia Nivagma

My name is Nivagma, I’m 34 years old. I was born in Ouricuri – PE, but my all family is of Paraíba, so two year later I left for there. I am of the humble origin family we are formed by my father, my mother, my younger brother and me. In my all infancy and adolescence I lived in a small city Pedra Lavrada – PB where I did great and true relationships that keep until today. My parents had little education, however, they wanted to me study I have always been a committed and dedicated student, although I have studied in public school that had some teaching problems. So when I finished the High School my parents supported and encouraged me for live and study in Campina Grande – PB to ingress in the university. In 1998 I moved to Campina Grande – PB in 1999 I was admitted in the entrance exam for Accounts Sciences course by Universidade Estadual da Paraíba and in 2003 I concluded it. I never worked how accountant just in similar areas like administrative financial area I like it. In 2005 I married with my best friend Carlos he also in the same city like me Pedra Lavrada. When we married he was studying his master’s degree atmospheric sciences he concluded it and already started study his Phd in the same degree. In 2007 he got a scholarship to study in the Utah State University in the Logan city in U.S.A for one year. In the first moment I didn’t know what think about it, I felt a mix of the feelings. I leave my family, my friends, my job and I didn’t speak anything in English, but I promised to support my husband and be with him anywhere. So, in 2008 we traveled to U.S.A in the first time was very difficult for me because I didn’t speak English, I don’t know anyone, spend many time inside the apartment and speak just with my husband. Then I started study English in the English Language Center to foreign students. It was very hard the teachers all the time speak in English and I didn’t understand, so crazy. Nevertheless was a wonderful experience and I learned many things not only the new language but other cultures beyond of American. I guess I might have a better performance with the English language, but I am ashamed and refrained to speak with the people. When we came back to Campina Grande I studied in Yazigi course for 4 months, I can not continue study English Language because Carlos concluded his Phd and was work in Manaus – AM, and so I went with him. There I didn’t study English Language course, but I had a little experience how volunteer teacher for children in a Church. One later my husband was admitted as professor at Universidade Federal de Campina Grande – PB. We returned to Campina Grande for four years and in that time I got pregnant, I quit my job of financial administrative assistant and returned to university and now I am studying the course of languages ​​and arts. I am loving and enjoying of study undergraduate again.

 

My Autobiography :)

Hello, my name is Lairla Celle and I am 20 years old.  I enjoy watching movies, drawing and hanging out with friends.
When i was 8 my parents got a job offer in America so they decided to move to Kissimmee, Florida. In October my father went first and in February my mom, brother and I went to meet with him. When    we arrived it was something really different, the weather was super cold and I had a jeans dress on. As a kid everything thing seemed wonderful, The food, the place, the new apartment even the smell was good. From then on I started school at Kissimme Elemantary where I began second grade in a ESOL class with students from different part of the world. I still remember like if it was today, a lady with curly hair named Mrs. Morrera walking into class and introducing me to my new classmate. Therefore my first contact with the English language.
From 2001 until 2012 I lived in Kissimmee, I finish elementary,middle and High school there. Im not going to lie, living there has been the best experience i could've ever been thru. I got to learn a new language, experience a new culture, which i loved Thanksgiving and Halloween. And make a lot of friends !
In 2012, I had just went to prom and graduated High School when a week later i found my self in Brasil facing a totally new reality. I spent 1 year of my life "In a adapting mode" which is was not easy but, i made it! when i was in this process i never thought of my self being a teacher and everything seemed hard at the moment.
Now that i got into the University and also gave my self a chance to try and teach, im enjoying it ! I am a English teacher at Yazigi and I realize I like teaching kids. Im very creative when it come to making up activities and games.
Well I want to continue this course and learn more of how to become a great teacher! I want to be a teacher who is patience, also have a classroom with a good learning environment where the students can feel comfortable and safe to make mistakes, understand my students needs and inspired them to want to learn more and more everyday.

  My name is Larissa, I am 23 years old. My first contact with the language was in high school, I don't remember if I liked to study English I just remember one teacher that was very funny.

  I always liked watch movies and wanted to listen the original voice actores, than I started watch the movies with subtitles. I think from this came my interest in learn English. When I was approved on the vestibular I started to learn basic English at Anglo Brazilian Institute and I am in third semester.

 I have taught to kids for two years, but I think I do not want continue to be a teacher because I do not have patience. I hope conclude my graduation to do a public service entrance to another occupation.
